Christy & Micheal's Minnesota Winter Wedding at First Baptist Church

Christy and Micheal wedding day started off a foggy morning at 17 degrees. Knowing we were adventuring outside Christy had her car packed with snow boots, hardwarmes, and blankets. She came prepared! She got ready with her sisters and friends in one of First Baptists upstairs classrooms. Christy fit into her dress like a glove, looking like it had been made for her.

She did a first look with her father in the Johnson chapel. Her dad just soaked her in and told her how proud he was of her. It was one of my favorite moments of their day.

Micheal went ahead of us to their own first look at Lebanon Hills Regional Park. Their spot for the first look is one of Christy’s favorite spots in her area that she would explore from time to time. The time with them at Lebanon was so full of joy and excitement; it just made the day very special. By mid afternoon the fog had rolled away and God gave us some beautiful sun shining through the trees just in time for wedding party portraits.

We headed back to the church to get married!!

Christy decorated the church aisle with large lanterns with flowers to guide their way up the aisle. She walked up the aisle barefoot her arm linked with her fathers. They said traditional vows because it was always something Christy had loved growing up.

A kiss sealed the deal and now they are a new Mrs & Mr. ! One of my favorite highlights of the day was right after they walked back up the aisle, Micheal and Christy slipped into a side room to take a private moment to hug and just reflect on what just took place. It was so sweet to witness.
Since we are in the middle of a pandemic, Christy and Micheal had to put off a big reception for another date. They did have a intimate reception with their core family to finish our the night!

I hope you enjoy their photos from their winter wedding.

Can’t get enough of Christy & Micheal?!?! I don’t blame you! You can check out their engagement session in Washington HERE.

Lacey & Michael met at a friend’s New Years Eve Party. So it was the perfect plan to tie the knot on their anniversary with an intimate elopement! Having a laid back courthouse elopement was a perfect fit! With a smaller agenda, the morning getting ready was pretty relaxed for the both of them. One thing that was really important to Lacey was some awesome winter photos! We took the time to do their first look and portraits a Lebanon Hills Regional Park. Like most Minnesota winters it was COLD! I know you can’t tell because they are just enjoying their time together. After thawing in the car, we made our way to Dakota County District Court for the Ceremony!

In a much warmer courtroom, a Judge married these two surrounded by their parents and Michael’s son. It was simple and sweet. We finished the night with some more photos to celebrate the occasion at Minneapolis’s The White Room, a small studio space that sells stunning wedding dresses.

I think this was a perfect way to close out 2020. Thank you for embracing the cold with me! Cheers to you both!

Mounds View Wedding Photography with Mubanga & Brad!

Micro weddings have become a thing in 2020 for brides and grooms whose plans have changed for covid. But even a global pandemic can’t stop the love between two people who desire to become husband and wife. That is the case for Brad and Mubanga. As plans have been adjusted time and time again, one thing has not, their desire to be together during this crazy time.
No matter how you decided to get married, the day you marry your person is still a special one!

Like many people these days, Mubanga and Brad met on a dating app. Although they disagree on who reached out to who first, sparks flew once they started talking. They have a shared love of food, which is why a simple dinner at an Asian restaurant was their first date. Unfortunately, Mubanga hated her dish so much that she ended up eating most of Brad’s instead. He didn’t seem to mind. So it is no surprise that one dinner turned into many. And it was over dinner that Brad asked Mubanga to become his wife.

They had a modest backyard wedding at their Mounds View home with only the closest friends and family in attendance. Due to flying restrictions some of Mubanga’s family in Zambia were unable to attend in person so they had a Zoom Call instead. Even their officiant was on the zoom call! I know the couple were excited that they could be there in spirit and mind. Now, I have to tell you, Mubanga was excited to marry Brad, BUT she was just as excited about her dress! (Can you blame this queen?!) She had it special ordered from one of her favorite Zambian designers back home. With just measurements and her dreams given on the phone a couple of weeks later this masterpiece arrived at their doorstep. One of my favorite details is the circle design was a recurring design for the whole family. Brad’s tie and her son’s held the same design as her dress. Mubanga’s mom has passed from this world, but Mubanga wanted to keep her photo close to her heart all day so she had her photo in a locket around her neck for her special wedding day.

My favorite part of the day was their vows. They recited traditional vows, but when said outloud they were spoken with such heart you could feel them as they were being said, which was very powerful.

During their portraits after the ceremony, this bride and groom were SO excited for their get away up north to Duluth for some solid relaxation just the two of them.

Although this day was short, it was so much fun to be a small part of.

Please enjoy their wedding day sneak peek!
